 Unit I: Professional Practice and Ethics

  • Define the concept of ethics and its relevance to engineering practice.

  • Explain the core principles of engineering ethics and professional responsibility.

  • Discuss the importance of codes of ethics in professional conduct and conflict of interest situations.

  • Analyze ethical dilemmas related to environmental breaches, negligence, and deficiencies in state-of-the-art practices.

  • Discuss the role of whistle-blowing and protected disclosures in addressing unethical practices.

  • Provide an overview of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the roles of various stakeholders.

Unit II: Law of Contract

  • Explain the essential elements of a valid contract and the importance of offer, acceptance, consideration, capacity, and free consent.

  • Analyze the concept of legality of object and identify grounds for invalidating contracts.

  • Discuss the nature and implications of contingent contracts, performance and discharge of obligations, and remedies for breach of contract.

Unit III: Arbitration, Conciliation, and ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) system

  • Discuss the scope and extent of judicial intervention in arbitration proceedings.

  • Analyze the role of International Commercial Arbitration and the importance of arbitration agreements.

  • Explore the role of Dispute Resolution Boards and Lok Adalats in resolving construction-related disputes.

Unit IV: Engagement of Labour and Labour & other construction-related Laws
